The Met Gala 2019 was Monday, May 6th. The theme was "Camp". And, in my eyes, it did not disappoint. Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Zendaya and Cardi B were all sublime.
But, hearing from girls all over NYC, the costumes that graced the pink carpet many thought were boring, regular. This brings me to my next questions: Do we girls suffer so intensely from perfectionism that it permeates how we think about everything? Can we ease up on ourselves and therefore ease up on others?
I think the answer is yes. Perfectionism is the death of creativity, the death of art. Perfectionism is the death of trying while it gives life to complaining, dissatisfaction and stagnation.
Think about the last time you opened your makeup kit or used your facial wash to find the apparatus doesn't work perfectly. Somebody somewhere decided it was good enough to put it out there. Time for you to do the same.
Go be seen through your work, creativity, ingenuity and stop worrying about perfection. It doesn't exist.
